This is a true clinical-support role in psychiatr. You'll room clients, track vitals, manage refills and prior authorizations, and keep the prescriber's day on schedule. If you're a medical assistant who wants to specialize in behavioral health — or already has — you'll have real ownership here. What You'll Do Room clients for psychiatric evaluations and medication-management visits; take vitals and weight, and update medication lists and allergies Complete screening tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, AIMS for tardive dyskinesia, etc.) and enter results in the EHR (Electronic Health Record) — we use Qualifacts InSync Manage the refill queue: triage requests, coordinate with pharmacies, and prepare prescriptions for prescriber review and signature Submit and track prior authorizations for psychiatric medications with commercial, Medicaid, and Community Care (CCBH) plans Run PDMP (Prescription Drug Monitoring Program) checks before controlled-substance appointments Coordinate lab orders and follow up on results (lithium levels, metabolic panels, EKGs) and flag abnormal values to the prescriber Administer injections, including long-acting injectable antipsychotics, under prescriber supervision (if certified and trained) Field client and pharmacy calls about medications, side effects, and scheduling; route clinical questions appropriately Manage the prescriber's schedule, cancellations, and no-show follow-up to keep the panel full Maintain the medication room, sample log, and supply inventory What We're Looking For 1+ year of medical assistant experience; psychiatry, behavioral health, or prior-authorization experience strongly preferred Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA) strongly preferred — certified candidates are hired at the top of the pay range Comfortable and calm with clients in emotional distress , you treat people with dignity on their worst days Strong EHR and pharmacy-portal skills (InSync, CoverMyMeds, or similar); detail-obsessed with documentation Working knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality Bilingual English/Spanish is a big plus Current BLS/CPR certification, or willing to obtain About Betterview Betterview is one of the fastest-growing behavioral health practices in Berks and Chester Counties.
