Summary:
The Medical Assistant works under the supervision and guidance of the Physician and Nursing Manager; he/she works directly with the providers and other nursing staff professionals. This individual must have excellent communication and multitasking skills, a professional demeanor, positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications & Skills:
Must have successfully completed an accredited Medical Assistant program - functions safely within the scope of practice as dictated by the authority of the American Association of Medical Assistants. Experience as Medical Assistant preferred Demonstrates accountability for own actions Demonstrates computer skills Exceptional customer service skills and professional phone manner Demonstrates enhanced work ethic Demonstrates flexibility within the working environment/workplace Requires reliable transportation Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Responsibilities & Duties:
Schedules appointments as needed Updates patient's records as needed Maintains proficiency in the use of the EHR (Electronic Health Record) Triages patient phones calls as needed Takes medical histories; performs "patient intake" and documents accurately Explains procedures to patients/families Performs skin testing: prick testing, intradermal testing, patch tests, Finn Chambers, ingestion challenges as ordered by the provider Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the providers Keeps exam rooms stocked Takes and records Vital Signs Administers immunotherapy injections and orders patients extracts as necessary Responsible for data entry, documentation and entering of charges of performed procedures Transmits prescriptions as directed; completes Prior Authorization forms as directed Performs other tasks as requested by MD and/or Practice Manager Orientates/Precepts newly hired personnel as assigned The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position.
