Job Description

Physicians Care, a nonprofit clinic serving uninsured adults in Cobb County, seeks a compassionate Medical Assistant to support medical, dental, and pharmacy services. In this role, you will room patients, take vitals, update records, assist with exams and procedures, and help coordinate care for individuals with limited access to healthcare. You'll work closely with physicians, nurses, and volunteers in a supportive environment focused on improving community health and reducing ER visits while gaining valuable hands-on experience in nonprofit healthcare. Responsibilities Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical history in the EHRPrepare exam rooms, maintain supplies, and ensure a clean, safe clinical environment Assist providers with exams, basic procedures, and diagnostic testing Administer medications and vaccines per provider orders and clinic protocols Coordinate patient flow, scheduling, and follow-up appointments Collect and process lab specimens and perform basic CLIA-waived tests Provide patient education on medications, chronic conditions, and follow-up care Support front desk tasks including check-in, paperwork, and verifying eligibility Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and volunteers to support high-quality care Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all infection control and safety policies Required Skills Vital signs measurement Electronic Health Records (EHR) Phlebotomy Administering injections and vaccines Medical terminology Clinical documentation Infection control procedures Specimen collection and processing Blood pressure and glucose monitoring Basic life support (BLS)
