Job Description

SCHEDULE
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or later if required to complete all daily activities)
  • On occasion some evening and weekend work may be required
OVERVIEW
The primary function of the Medical Assistant is to facilitate the smooth and timely flow of patients into and out of the exam rooms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Represent the practice in a professional manner at all times
  • Be aligned with the office's philosophy on vaccines, use of medications and the overall quality of care
  • Follow standard operating procedures
  • Move patients into and out of exam rooms
  • Complete patient intake in a timely manner following medical assistant guidelines
  • Administer vaccines and maintain new and historical patient vaccine records in EHR and state registries
  • Answer the back office phone line and call patients with test results
  • Monitor and manage tasks assigned to the clinical inbox in Athena
  • Maintain lead testing results on state websites
  • Oversee and troubleshoot the lab and perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and quality controls
  • Report medical supplies needed and stock and clean all exam rooms every day
  • Assist the providers with the patients, supplies and equipment as needed
  • Collect and process specimens for internal and external laboratory testing
  • Make post op calls to frenotomy patients
  • Cross train on the basic tasks of Receptionist (answer phones, make appointments, check patients in and out) and fill in as required
  • Assist with training of new Medical Assistants
  • Maintain the stock of printed forms
  • Make reports as required to the Practice Manager on the status of the assigned functions
  • Maintain HIPPA and OSHA compliance at all times
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Support the marketing and advertising efforts
REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent communication, computer and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • CPR certification
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certificate
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Spanish speaking Background checks may be required depending on role and candidate.
