Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the frontline representative of our medical practice, providing exceptional patient service, managing medical records, and supporting clinical and administrative operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care while honing your skills in a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with appointment scheduling using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix. Manage patient intake processes, including data entry, updating medical histories, and verifying insurance information through insurance verification procedures. Maintain organized and up-to-date medical records in accordance with health information management standards; file documents securely and retrieve records efficiently. Assist with front desk duties such as answering multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, managing appointment schedules, and coordinating care plans for patients. Requirements Proven experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities; bilingual skills are a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems confidently. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in medical billing or coding are beneficial.
