Job Description

Texas Neurology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our growing Dallas office. The Certified Medical Assistant is an essential part of our clinical team in helping patients feel at ease in our office and frequently aid in addressing the personal care needs of our patients. They are cross-trained to perform both clinical and administrative duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Prepares exam rooms for patients. Cleans room after each visit, disinfects equipment, and restocks supplies. Greets and accompanies patients from reception area Records vital signs (e.g., heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, etc.) Prepares patients for provider examination and/or procedures Document information into electronic health record (EHR). Collects all required data elements and complete all forms prior to the exam or treatment to ensure the healthcare provider can establish an effective plan of care for the patient Assists in examination and treatment of patients as requested by the provider Prepares and administers medications and injections, as directed by healthcare provider Performs administrative duties such as answer telephones, dictate voicemails, respond to web messages, scan/fax documents, filling out insurance forms, scheduling appointments, and other administrative duties as assigned Communicates with various departments to ensure availability of necessary supplies, equipment, and records as necessary Makes good decisions under pressure Educates patients about ancillary services offered in the clinic Willingness to assist with covering in area when needed is a plus!
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Ability to document patient information accurately in accordance with Texas Neurology policies and procedures Ability to communicate to the healthcare provider general physical conditions of patients based on general observations Ability to administer injections Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with neurological conditions and testing Ability to help make patients feel at ease in our office during the encounter with our care teams and staff Appears friendly, reassuring and approachable Ability to take instructions Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) (eClinicalWorks a plus) Detail oriented Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent typing skills Excellent computer skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
QUALIFICATIONS
Highschool diploma/GED equivalent Minimum of 2 years working in a medical office Active BLS/CPR Certification Cert Medical Assistant (CMA): Must be CMA from one listed: Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT, Cert Med Asst (CMA) from AAMA or ARMA, Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA, Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP or AAH, Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP, Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from
AMCA. ABOUT TEXAS NEUROLOGY

Our doctors work closely with referring physicians to diagnose and treat disorders of the nervous system including diseases of the brain, nerves, muscles and spinal cord. The providers are experts in all areas of neurological treatment and care including Muscular Dystrophy, ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Cerebrovascular Disease, Seizure Disorders and Stroke Symptoms.
