Job Overview We are seeking a friendly, dedicated, and energetic bilingual Medical Assistant to join our dynamic podiatry practice. This position supports the physician and clinical team by delivering compassionate and efficient patient care. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, professional, and comfortable working closely with patients, the physician, and other members of the healthcare team. Duties and Responsibilities Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms. Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures. Obtain and document medical histories, medications, allergies, vital signs, and reasons for the visit. Accurately update patient information and assigned clinical documentation in the electronic health record. Prepare, clean, disinfect, and restock examination rooms between patients. Assist the physician during examinations, treatments, and in-office podiatric procedures. Prepare instruments, dressings, medications, and supplies for procedures. Clean, package, and sterilize instruments according to infection-control procedures. Administer medications and injections as permitted and delegated by the physician. Provide physician-approved education regarding treatment plans, medication use, and post-visit instructions. Assist patients with braces, boots, surgical shoes, and other durable medical equipment. Assist with laboratory and imaging orders, referrals, surgical paperwork, and medical-clearance requests as assigned. Respond to patient calls and messages and forward clinical concerns to the physician. Process prescription refill requests according to clinic procedures. Monitor clinical supplies, maintain inventory, and notify management when supplies need to be ordered. Support efficient patient flow and communicate delays or patient concerns to the clinical team. Collect and properly dispose of regular trash, biohazardous waste, and sharps in accordance with OSHA requirements and clinic safety procedures. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and clinic policies. Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications Must be bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish. Excellent patient-care and customer-service skills. Friendly, compassionate, and professional demeanor. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems. Knowledge of infection-control, sterilization, and clinical safety procedures. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a busy medical office. Ability to follow physician instructions and established clinic procedures. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Ability to remain calm and professional when assisting patients who are anxious, uncomfortable, or in pain. Willingness to learn podiatry-specific procedures, equipment, and terminology.
Pay:
$15.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 33.0 per week
