Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, organized, and dependable Front Desk/Medical Assistant to join our new psychiatric practice in McKinney, Texas. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with patients, providing exceptional customer service, and being part of a growing healthcare team. The Front Desk/Medical Assistant will support both the administrative and clinical operations of the practice and will play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for our patients. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, comfortable multitasking, and able to work independently while also being a strong team player. Front Desk & Administrative Duties Greet and check in patients while ensuring a smooth and timely patient flow. Answer incoming phone calls and schedule new and established patient appointments. Receive referrals and contact patients to coordinate scheduling. Collect and accurately record patient payments, including copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and outstanding balances. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient demographics and records. Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and sanitized reception and waiting area. Assist with general administrative and office duties as needed. Provide professional and courteous communication with patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare professionals. Medical Assistant / Clinical Room patients and prepare them for their appointments. Obtain and document vital signs. Obtain the patient's reason for visit and pertinent medical history. Accurately document patient information in the EMR. Assist with patient communication and correspondence. Coordinate and communicate regarding laboratory results, prescriptions, and referrals. Submit and coordinate orders for laboratory testing, imaging, and other diagnostic services. Assist the provider with clinical and administrative tasks as needed. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare regulations. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant certification and/or prior healthcare experience preferred, but not required. Strong communication, active listening, and customer service skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect patient privacy. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Comfortable adapting to change and supporting the needs of a growing practice. Basic computer skills and ability to learn and navigate electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing an excellent patient experience.
