POSITION SUMMARY

The Texas Institute for Neurological Disorders is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Clinical Medical Assistant to join our Sherman clinic. The primary responsibility of this full-time position will be completing routine EEG setups using the Zeto EEG system, which utilizes a fitted cap rather than traditional electrode placement. The Clinical Medical Assistant will also support patient preparation, clinical documentation, equipment maintenance, and other medical assistant responsibilities as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare patients for routine EEG testing and explain the procedure clearly.
• Measure the patient's head and select the appropriate Zeto EEG cap.
• Properly fit and apply the Zeto cap according to established protocols.
• Prepare the patient's scalp and verify proper sensor contact and signal quality.
• Enter and confirm patient information within the Zeto system.
• Monitor impedance levels, signal quality, and equipment functionality.
• Complete photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and other testing components when ordered and appropriate.
• Observe patients throughout testing and promptly report any clinical concerns.
• Document testing information accurately in the electronic health record.
• Upload and route completed EEG studies to the appropriate provider for interpretation.
• Clean and disinfect EEG caps, equipment, and testing areas.
• Maintain adequate testing supplies and report equipment concerns.
• Assist with rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, updating medication lists, and other clinical duties as needed.
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and organizational policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or registration required.
• Previous clinical or healthcare experience preferred.
• Neurology, EEG, or diagnostic testing experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized protocols.
• Excellent communication and patient-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn EEG and electronic health record systems.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus.

COMPETENCY SIGN-OFF

The employee must demonstrate competency in Zeto cap application, signal-quality verification, and testing protocols before independently completing routine EEG setups. Competency must be formally assessed and signed off by a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.).

TRAINING

Training will be provided on the Zeto EEG system, fitted-cap application, patient preparation, signal-quality verification, equipment care, and documentation requirements.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position based at the Sherman clinic. The schedule will be determined by patient volume, provider schedules, and operational needs.
