Job Description

Medical Assistant - Coastal Gateway Health Center is recruiting full-time (40 hours per week) Medical Assistants for work in a community health center (outpatient clinic) setting.
Disclaimer:
this position is a front office and back office position. Will be a dual non-clinical and clinical position.
Primary Duties :
  • Take and record required patient vitals (BP, HR, RR, Temp, O2sat)
  • Take and record chief complaint
  • Take and record required patient information and history (Height/Weight, Medical, Surgical, Family, Social, Behavioral)
  • Reconcile patient medications at each visit
  • Administer medications (PO, IM, SQ, ID) as directed by provider and observe patient for reactions
  • Administer all outstanding/past due immunizations at time of visit
  • Collect blood samples by using aseptic technique, as directed, and label specimens appropriately.
  • Perform CLIA-Waived tests (rapid tests)
  • Perform EKGs
  • Handle orders from external agencies (DME request, home health, nursing home), prior authorizations, radiology referrals
  • Replenish clinical supplies in storage and exam rooms
  • Communicate test results to patients
  • Processing external referrals.
  • Various administrative tasks, such as calling patients back with results, follow-up appointments, etc.. Also includes working through care gap and quality metric lists to engage with patients.
  • Other duties, may include: light housekeeping, such as emptying trash or shred bins, inventory of clerical, medication, or vaccination supplies, and sort and distributing fax/mail documents Participates in Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and/or other external quality recognition programs Cross-trained to assist with front office duties (including check-in/out, answering phones, registering patients, and verifying benefits) Critical Demands of the

Requirements:
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant's educational program at an accredited school
  • Medical Assistants must be Certified or Registered. Certification may be obtained through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or through the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). For new graduates or those whose credentials have lapsed; certification examination must be passed within six (6) months of employment.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • All other training/certifications will be provided onsite/on the job.
