Job Title:
Medical AssistantJob Description The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting patient care by maintaining efficient clinic flow, ensuring accurate documentation, and creating a positive patient experience. This role supports both clinical and administrative functions in an outpatient setting, working closely with providers and care teams to deliver high-quality care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities + Room patients efficiently and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, weight, and BMI, as well as relevant patient history and medical information. + Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner in electronic medical record (EMR) or electronic health record (EHR) systems. + Prepare patient charts prior to appointments, ensuring all necessary labs, imaging, and medical records are available and organized. + Collect and process specimens as needed, following established clinical protocols. + Support pharmacy refills, referrals, laboratory orders, and tracking of test results to ensure continuity of care. + Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up care in collaboration with providers and care teams. + Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and medical supplies to ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment. + Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and care team members to support coordinated care. + Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times. + Travel to multiple clinic locations as needed to provide support and coverage. + Provide coverage for other team members as needed, contributing to a collaborative team environment. + Deliver excellent patient service by responding to questions, addressing concerns, and helping patients navigate their visits. Essential Skills + Experience with EMR/EHR systems, including accurate and timely documentation of patient information. + Proficiency in obtaining vital signs and performing patient intake, including blood pressure, weight, BMI, and patient history. + Ability to room patients efficiently and prepare them for provider visits. + Strong understanding of back-office workflows, including referrals, laboratory orders, refills, and documentation processes. + Medical office experience supporting scheduling, referrals, and general clinic operations. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and care teams. + Basic to intermediate computer skills, including use of EMR systems and scheduling tools. + Ability to accurately document and manage patient information with attention to detail. + Detail-oriented and highly organized approach to tasks and responsibilities. + Strong patient service mindset with a focus on delivering a positive patient experience. + Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. + Professional and compassionate demeanor in all patient and team interactions. + Reliability and accountability in attendance, follow-through, and task completion. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 0-1 year of medical assistant or other hands-on healthcare experience. + Experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic setting. + Bilingual language skills. + Familiarity with referrals, laboratory coordination, and patient scheduling workflows. + Customer service experience, especially in a patient care or healthcare environment. + Experience supporting pharmacy refills, lab orders, and result tracking. + Comfort working across both clinical and administrative duties in a team-based care environment. Work Environment This role is based primarily in an outpatient clinic environment with standard Monday-Friday clinic hours. The Medical Assistant will primarily work at the Orem clinic and may float to an additional clinic location approximately once a week as needed. The work involves direct patient interaction, frequent use of EMR/EHR systems, and coordination with providers and care teams in a fast-paced setting. The position requires maintaining clean and organized exam rooms, handling medical equipment and supplies, and moving between patient rooms and administrative areas throughout the day. The environment emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a strong commitment to patient service and confidentiality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orem, UT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
