Clinical Laboratory Assistant (Part-time) Valley Women's Health

•$20 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Valley Women's Health Central Laboratory is looking to fill a Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) position in Provo. The CLA will perform waived to moderately complex testing as defined by CLIA regulations and laboratory policy in an accurate and timely manner.

Schedule:

Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:00pm

•9:00pm, and some Saturdays from 12:00pm

•2:00pm.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Current US citizen or permanent US resident.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specimen processing: Checks labeling, logs samples, and processes specimens. Ensures acceptable specimen integrity. Maintains accurate records of specimen information and ensures proper storage. Keeps work surfaces clean and orderly.

Procedures:

Capable of comprehending and following laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, analyzer maintenance, and results reporting.

Equipment Maintenance:

Verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and performs basic troubleshooting. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of results.

Quality Control:

Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers by following established standard operating procedures. Assists in maintaining and monitoring quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Participates in proficiency testing.

Patient Testing:

Runs waived and moderately complex laboratory assays in chemistry, hematology, serology, immunohematology/blood bank, and molecular areas. Serves as a technical resource by answering questions from medical staff. Troubleshoots sample and order errors adequately. Identifies and communicates critical patient results by alerting supervisory personnel, the physician, nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, or nurse. HIPAA compliance is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to bend down or lift 25 lb objects occasionally Ability to stand for extended periods of time Required to put away supplies and materials, as needed. Wear Personal Protective Equipment, e.g., scrubs, lab coat, and gloves. E04JI80040jt409e4lr
