Job Description

Medical Assistant/Receptionist Seeking full-time medical office technician/clerical worker; duties will be roughly 70% patient care and 30% clerical. This position covers a variety of responsibilities to support the daily operations of
Charlottesville Orthopaedic Center:
Patient Care - Greets patients, obtains vital signs as needed, obtains history of presenting condition/illness and enters into patient record in preparation for seeing medical provider Notifies x-ray tech of need for x-rays per patient Applies proper splint/cast/dressing per provider's orders Measures, applies, and makes adjustments as necessary when fitting patient with durable medical equipment (DME), both off-the-shelf and custom If experienced, draws blood and processes for PRP injections Is familiar with surgical procedure paperwork and able to instruct patients regarding upcoming surgical procedures. Removes stitches/staples Sterilizes intruments Notifies manager of medical supply needs Clerical - Scans any paper patient records into their electronic chart. Fills any requests from outside for patient medical records. Shares the duty with all others of answering phones, scheduling appointments, and fielding questions from patients when the front desk is overloaded. Relieves front desk receptionist for lunch or other occasions as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience:
1 year in a relevant field of study or employment is a plus. Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
Licensure:
None required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Constant walking/standing No aversions to surgical wounds/needles/blood Constant walking and/or standing, ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 lbs.
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 32.0 per week
