Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic practice. In this role, you will support physicians and clinical staff by preparing patients for examinations, assisting during procedures, and managing various administrative and clinical tasks. The ideal candidate is compassionate, efficient, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care. This position also involves working closely with insurance providers to obtain prior authorizations, requiring strong communication and organizational skills. What You'll Be Doing:
Greet patients and prepare them for examination by taking injury histories and reviewing prior clinical notes Communicate x-ray needs per physician guidance Perform key clinical skills such as casting, splinting, assisting with injections, suture/staple removal, post-op dressing changes, and ultrasound use Accurately convey physician verbal and written orders Operate office and clinical software/equipment as needed Facilitate lab specimens and place electronic orders as directed by the physician Ensure patients fully understand their follow-up instructions before leaving Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and workspaces Handle incoming calls, voicemails, emails, and patient correspondence Apply practice insurance policies appropriately in patient care situations Maintain physician dictations and ensure accurate patient records Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA guidelines Perform other job-related duties as assigned such as Forms and scheduling,ect.
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting (preferred) Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills Ability to remain professional and calm in confidential or high-pressure situations Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Bonus:
Experience with EMR systems (AthenaHealth preferred)

Medical Assisting certification is for this position
