Key Responsibilities Clinical Medical Assistant Duties Room patients and obtain medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints. Prepare examination and procedure rooms, ensuring proper sterilization and stocking of supplies. Assist physicians during Mohs micrographic surgery, excision procedures, biopsies, skin cancer treatments, and other dermatologic surgical procedures . Set up sterile fields, prepare surgical instruments and supplies, and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures. Assist with local anesthesia administration, tissue handling, specimen labeling, and pathology preparation according to practice protocols. Perform wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, bandage application, and post-operative patient education. Monitor and support patients before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure comfort and safety. Document procedures, surgical details, and patient communications accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR). Process prescription refills, laboratory requests, and pathology tracking as needed. Maintain strict infection-control, OSHA, and patient-safety standards. Support efficient patient flow in a fast-paced medical and surgical dermatology environment. Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Minimum 1-2 years of medical assistant experience preferred Strong understanding of sterile technique and surgical assisting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. Experience with EMR systems and medical documentation. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Professional, compassionate, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care. Preferred Qualifications Previous dermatology or Mohs surgery experience. Experience with surgery scheduling and insurance authorization processes. Knowledge of dermatology procedures, pathology workflows, and wound care.
