This position provides Medical Assistant and administrative support to the organization by providing whole-person care to clients in a team-based setting. This position will support the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in providing TMS and medication services to clients in organization programs, as well as supporting the PMHNP in administrative duties. They will also support the administrative team in various duties, including client-facing responsibilities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or GED 2. Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program 3. Washington State Licensed Medical Assistant Certification 4. Experience in medical billing, coding, prior authorization, and documentation required. Examining patient bills for accuracy and requesting any missing information. 5. Coordinate prior authorizations and refills for client prescriptions under the direction of the provider, preferred but not required. 6. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) 7. Experience with Electronic Medical/Health Records (EMR/EHR), Athena Health would be a plus. 8. One (1) year of experience as a certified Medical Assistant (preferred), but students and new graduates are welcomed to apply. 9. The ability to efficiently and successfully navigate in-office tasks, including typing, office machines, and multiple computer programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Electronic Health Records. 10. Supports provider with documentation, billing, and coding needs 11. Experience setting up session rooms for face-to-face services as well as virtual (telehealth) services. 12. Experience in handling confidential materials in a professional manner in accordance with HIPAA and applicable state laws and regulations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED TASKS
A. General Medical Assistant Duties Supports and upholds organization Mission and Vision Measure patient vital signs (weight, waist circumference, height, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, and temperature), record in EHR/EMR (Athena) Manage psychiatric services schedule, including scheduling appointments, managing referrals, and keeping provider and team informed of schedule changes that impact patient flow Provide daily Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment as needed. We will provide training and support. Coordinate and facilitate appropriate lab work for patients under the direction of the prescriber, ensuring that lab results are received and documented in the Electronic Health Record and informing PMHNP of any results that are of critical value Potential to perform phlebotomy, prepare designated lab work and/or specimens as directed by provider or standing order as the program grows Manage client care flow, and set up session/exam/procedure room appropriately based on client visit needs Handle multiple phone lines and email correspondence, exhibiting effective communication skills and staffing the reception area as needed Perform inventory of necessary supplies, order and stock care center supply Engage in routine patient education under the direction of the provider Coordinate care with other providers on the treatment team, including tracking patient care needs such as preventative exams, external diagnostic testing and lab orders, and referrals. Coordinate referrals, close gaps in care, release of records, and overall care through patient and specialist outreach Obtains and records patients' history and additional pertinent data on the client's medical record. Recognizes urgent/emergent situations and refers them in a timely fashion to the PMHNP Provide basic telephone and in-person screening and recognize emergent/urgent problems, triaging appropriately by directing the client to the emergency room, PMHNP based on needs and acuity Partner with primary care to facilitate and support medical integration. Supports administrative team with additional duties as needed, including verifying insurance benefits, scheduling, and clerical support. Answers phones, greets clients, answers inquiries, and maintains the front desk area at the assigned office. B.
