About us Chesapeake Healthcare Center provides integrated healthcare to include internal medicine, behavioral health/substance abuse, and psychiatric treatment services. Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports the Providers by providing caring, personalized and efficient handling of patients, medical records, supply management and other duties as assigned. In addition, the CMA provides appropriate feedback to the medical team, follow-up information to patients and correctly inputs data as required. The position may also perform urine drug screens as a regular part of the job.
Position Responsibilities:
Works directly with a prescriber to improve efficiency and continuity of care for patients. Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and exam room utilization by efficiently scheduling appointments. Keeps patient appointments on schedule by reminding patients of their appointment the day before; registering and checking in patients in a timely manner; preparing necessary documents for the visit; notifying provider of patients' late arrival; rescheduling or moving late arriving patients when necessary Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining a clean and presentable front office and reception area Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records or reports Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating patient demographics and insurance information in the electronic health record system Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information per HIPAA regulations. Understands and complies with federal and state licensure regulations as well as any other regulatory requirements. Maintains operations by following CHC policies and procedures Quickly learns and effectively uses the electronic health records system Performs all other duties as trained and requested by provider and/or management Operate a multi-line system to answer calls, transfer calls, provide information, schedule appointments and take messages as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Must be a Certified Medical Assistant Excellent customer service skills Excellent verbal, telephone and communication skills Experience working with Microsoft Office and possesses strong computer skills Maintain a current CPR certification and use CPR skills if needed Can adjust to new environments easily and willing to learn new skills Can manage individual responsibilities with little or no direction Professional behavior and appearance Willing to work a flexible schedule Excellent Attendance Pays attention to detail and is quality focused Ability to use good judgment and seek appropriate resources in difficult or stressful situations
Valid West Virginia Drivers License Actual Job Responsibilities:
Answer Telephone Switchboard Answer multi-line telephone in a timely, courteous and professional manner Transfer calls for 10+ employees. Accurately receive and disseminate messages; keep staff phone extension list current Update voice-mail as needed. Incoming and Outgoing Mail Route incoming and outgoing mail Maintain credit card machine: submit supply requests and schedule maintenance. Route inter-office mail. Maintain interoffice supplies Send and receive faxes All communications are potentially sensitive and are subject to CHC's policy on confidentiality. Greet and Assist Visitors/Patients Greet, assist and direct all visitors/patients in a courteous manner. Assure all visitors/patients sign/check
  • in Keep area clean and clear of obstructions that might impede traffic flow and safety considerations.
Administrative Support Receive and log in all cash/credit card payments. Ensure cash/checks are secured. Run monthly reports. Maintain office equipment (credit card, copy machine/fax, Lab Machines, etc) Order supplies as needed and be proficient in the use of office equipment. Other duties as assigned
Appearance Standards:
This position shall follow the appearance standards as outlined in the CHC Personnel Appearance Policy.
