JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. They must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for providing TMS treatments to clients utilizing the Brainsway TMS system.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Previous customer service and/or medical office experience preferred. SKILLS Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. Must have well-developed verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer and keyboarding skills. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products knowledge including Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to learn new computer software applications. Must know medical terminology. Detail oriented. Exceptional phone etiquette. Completion of Brainsway TMS training is required upon hire and is provided by CRH upon hire.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS BLS
(AHA) is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administrative Duties:
Answer telephones. Update, file, and scan patient medical records. Code and fill out insurance forms/completing prior authorizations (TMS and others as needed). Schedule appointments. Complete purchase orders, maintain inventory, and order items from materiel management. Complete maintenance requests and ensure items are repaired. Engage in Marketing activities for TMS program.
Medical Assistant Functions:
Take medical history. Explain treatment procedures to patients. Administer TMS treatments. Prepare patients for examination. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens. Perform basic lab procedures as certified. Instruct patients about medication and special diets. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider. Authorize prescription refills as directed. Take electrocardiograms as needed. Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's chart. Give instructions to patients as instructed by provider. Ensure all related reports, labs and information are filed and available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment. Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls. Prioritize and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants. Pursue continuing education. Follow policies and procedures per Cody Regional Health. Should be able to work well under situations of stress.
Other Clinical Duties:
Perform ancillary duties as required, i.e. order tests, run specimens to CRH, or pick up supplies as requested. Assist in general hygiene of the clinic and self, keeping waiting room and all working areas clean and free of clutter. Assist with back-office functions as trained, i.e. rooming patients, taking vital signs, and performing lab procedures as certified. Adhere to Cody Regional Health's Standards of Behavior. All other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Attend department meetings and in-services and disaster drills. Stay up to date on all changes/education affecting position. Keep current with CPR certification.
