Full Job Description Description:
The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for coordinating, verifying and coding appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for all surgical procedures within our orthopedic practice in a timely manner.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Codes surgical procedures performed and diagnosis on charge. Verifies and completes charge information in database and produces billing. Provides additional information and reports to physicians and staff on appropriate codes. Appends modifiers when appropriate.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of medical practices and surgical procedures - specifically in orthopedics Knowledge of computerized billing, EMR/EPM system. Athena Healthcare experience a plus! Knowledge of traditional insurance plans, HMO/PPO's, Medicare, Medicaid, and Worker's Comp. Knowledge medical terminology and anatomy of the body.
Skills:
Proficient skills in computer programs including spreadsheets. Skill in written and verbal communication and customer relations.
Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly. Ability to enter accurate data and examine documents for accuracy. Ability to deal courteously with physicians, patients, and staff. Ability to read and understand operative reports / chart notes.

Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years billing experience in an orthopedic healthcare setting
Other Requirements:
CPC certification
Job Type:
Full-time, exempt position. Monday through Friday 8:15 AM to 5 PM.
Work Location:
In person at our Palm Beach Gardens location.
