Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder (RCC or CIRCC preferred) to join our team. The Medical Coder performs daily coding and code verification for Regional Diagnostic Radiology. This role ensures accurate code assignment and compliance with regulations, working with clinical and billing teams to support accurate records and optimize reimbursement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Code Assignment :
Accurately assigns and verifies CPT and ICD-10 codes for radiology exams following official guidelines.
Record Review :
Reviews billing files for accuracy, fixes errors, fills in missing details, and forwards documents to billing.
Compliance Collaboration :
Works with the compliance team and providers to resolve regulatory and documentation questions.
Denial Management :
Researches insurance denials, fixes errors, and resubmits claims.
Process Improvement :
Partners with billing manager and IT team to streamline charge capture.
Data Security :
Protects patient privacy and confidential data in line with HIPAA rules.
Continuing Education :
Stays current on current on coding updates, payer rules, and industry standards. Maintains current coder certification.
Attendance :
Reports to work on time and maintains reliable attendance.
Additional Duties :
Performs other assigned tasks as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization and external contacts. Requires computer proficiency. Requires strong organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Requires accountability and responsibility for compliance issues relative to established coding guidelines. Must remain current with all guidelines, changes, and all information regarding coding. Requires a high degree of accuracy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate (Preferred) Medical coding: 1 year (Required)
WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Normal Medical Clinic Environment:
Indoors in a clean, well illuminated area of constant temperature in which one is exposed to only noise from business machines and medical practice equipment. Protective measures are necessary based on the level of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous substances.
