We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our team at Boone County Health Center. In this role, you will be responsible for applying appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for accurate data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, and coding practices to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations.Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent. One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience (one year of education equals one year of experience). Knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, anatomy, and physiology, and medical records procedures. Proficient in CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS coding terminologies. Experience with personal computers and general office equipment. Successful completion of a coding certification with AHIMA approval status (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC approval status (CPC). Previous experience as a coder is preferred.Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities :

Codes :
Abstracts pertinent patient information from patient records and assigns correctCPT/ICD-10
codes. Queries healthcare providers when documentation is inadequate or unclear for coding purposes. Meets productivity standards based on assigned account type(s). Conducts chart audits for assigned account types. Maintains knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.Performs Follow-Up :
Follows up and makes necessary changes to entries on patient accounts as needed. Adheres toEthical Coding Standards :
Follows ethical coding standards set by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Keeps up to date with coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.
