About Us Nephrology Associates is a growing, patient-focused healthcare organization committed to delivering high-quality care across multiple sites. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder with coding certification to support accurate billing, coding compliance, and timely reimbursement. Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to support audits and accounts receivable claims reconsideration processes. This role is responsible for reviewing denied or underpaid claims, ensuring coding accuracy, and identifying opportunities for revenue recovery while maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities Assist with audits and support internal compliance initiatives • Review and analyze denied or underpaid claims to determine appropriate corrections or appeal strategies Perform coding corrections using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines Support A/R follow-up team by providing coding expertise for claim reconsiderations and appeals Maintain compliance with federal regulations, payer guidelines, and coding standards Collaborate with providers and staff to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy Identify trends in denials or underpayments and recommend process improvements
Qualifications Required:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), CCS, or equivalent certification Minimum 2-3 years of medical billing and coding experience (specialty experience preferred, e.g., nephrology, cardiology, etc.) Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific billing rules Experience with EHR/PM systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Athena, Epic, etc.) Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience in multi-site or specialty practice environment Key Competencies Accuracy and attention to detail Strong communication and collaboration skills Time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment Commitment to compliance and continuous improvement Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Retirement plan with employer contribution Professional development opportunities
