The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, ensuring accurate coding of patient records for billing and insurance purposes. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of medical records and facilitating efficient medical billing processes. Responsibilities Review and analyze patient medical records to assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered. Utilize ICD-10 coding system to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices in medical billing. Assist in the management of medical records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and compliant with legal standards. Participate in audits to ensure coding accuracy and adherence to internal policies. Support the medical biller by providing expertise in coding-related inquiries and assist in billing. Assist in processing medical collections efficiently by following up on unpaid claims and resolving issues as they arise. Convert patient visit data into standardized medical codes and submit clean claims to insurance companies or government payers. Skills Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. Experience with medical records management and medical billing processes. Software proficiency and experience using electronic health records (EHR) and billing tools. Strong understanding of ICD-10 coding system, as well as DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications. Familiarity with various medical office systems and software used for coding and billing purposes. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for reviewing complex information. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers and administrative staff regarding coding issues. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
