Job Description
Outpatient HIM Coding Specialist - Remote (Saginaw, MI Area) A confidential healthcare client in Saginaw, MI is hiring an Outpatient HIM Coding Specialist to join their growing coding team. This is a full-time, primarily remote role coding ED facility, ED professional, ambulatory surgery, outpatient diagnostic, and observation accounts. Responsibilities Code outpatient facility accounts using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4, including APC assignment and CCI edit review Maintain coding accuracy and turnaround time across assigned work queues Collaborate with HIM, CDI, and billing teams to resolve documentation and coding questions Stay current with coding guidelines, Coding Clinic updates, and regulatory changes Support denial reviews, appeals, and coding quality initiatives as needed Requirements RHIA, RHIT, or CCS credential required Associate's or Bachelor's degree (new grads eligible with credential in progress) Experience in at least one outpatient coding area (ED, ambulatory surgery, or observation) — training provided on additional patient types Working knowledge of EMR/encoder systems (Epic and 3M 360 encoder experience a plus) Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting Why Apply Onsite training (1-3 weeks) with lodging and meals covered, then fully remote Join a well-established HIM department with strong team support and training Opportunity for professional growth in a stable healthcare organization to join a respected healthcare HIM team as an Outpatient Coding Specialist.
