Job Description

ETSU Health is currently seeking Medical Coding Specialists to join our Surgery team. ETSU Health is a multi-specialty practice group located in Northeast Tennessee, and is affiliated with Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University. JOB SUMMARY
The Coding Specialist is responsible for performing the following duties in an efficient and effective manner. •
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reviews the medical records, determines appropriate services to be coded (ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS) for each billing record and applies. If working in the Primary Care offices, reviews documentation for diagnosis coding specificity for Hierarchical Condition Category Coding (HCC Coding). Organizes work for accuracy and effectiveness to ensure compliance of proper billing and coding procedures of third party carriers and to ensure complete and accurate reimbursements. Reports any concerns/problems regarding billing and makes recommendations to Administrator for solutions. Stays current with changes in coding guidelines. Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
