EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or it's equivalent is required. Must have three years of inpatient coding experience. Formalized education and training through an accredited coding program required. Candidate will also possess one of the following certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator, (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or CPC (Certified Professional Coder). Knowledgable of regulatory requirements. Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products as well as 3M Encoding and Grouping software.

POSITION
SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIESWorks under the direct supervision of the Coding and Reimbursement Manager, Health Information Management. Codes inpatient, outpatient surgery and observation visits utilizing the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding classification systems. Assists in the training of new coding technicians when appropriate.
