The Primary Care Deputy Medical Director serves as a clinical and operational leader within the primary care department, supporting the Primary Care Medical Director in advancing high-quality, patient-centered care. This position provides leadership, mentorship, and oversight of the CAIHC based primary care clinicians, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, quality standards, and evidence-based practices. The position functions to involve and implement TCC mission, vision and value statements. Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Representative Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Primary Care Medical Director job incumbent: 1. Support the Primary Care Medical Director in the development and implementation of primary care clinical programs and initiatives. 2. Acts on behalf of the Primary Care Medical Director during periods of absence and may exercise delegated clinical and operational authority as assigned. 3. Promote evidence-based practice standards and continuous quality improvement activities. 4. Assist in monitoring clinical performance, patient outcomes, and provider productivity. 5. Participate in the development and review of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols. 6. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for primary care clinicians. 7. Supports initiatives that promote provider wellbeing, engagement, professional fulfillment, and retention. 8. Provide leadership and supervision for primary care staff within the primary care department. 9. Assist Clinical Staff Office with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and retention of primary care providers. 10. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development. 11. Facilitate primary care staff engagement, collaboration, and adherence to organizational standards. 12. Assist with State of Alaska Physician Associate Collaboration requirements with Clinical Staff Office. 13. Support quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, access, and clinical outcomes. 14. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations. 15. Participate in peer review activities and performance improvement efforts. 16. Collaborate with leadership to address clinical risk management concerns. 17. Assist in managing clinic operations to improve efficiency, patient access, and provider workflow. 18. Collaborate with administrative leaders on staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation. 19. Partners with operational leadership to improve access, continuity of care, empanelment management, and provider workload optimization. 20. Support strategic planning and implementation of departmental goals and objectives. 21. Participate in budget planning and operational performance monitoring as assigned. 22. Foster effective communication among providers, staff, administration, and community partners. 23. Promotes team-based care models that optimize the contributions of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, care coordinators, and support staff. 24. Represent primary care services on organizational committees and workgroups. 25. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care. 26. Some direct patient care may be expected.
Other Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
1. NP, or PA with Alaska licensure. 2. Seven (7) years of primary care/urgent care experience. 3. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. 4. Prior experience in a tribal health care setting preferred. 5. Must pass background check pursuant to Federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska DHSS background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Three (3) or more years of leadership experience. 2. Experience with quality improvement methodologies. 3. Experience supervising clinicians. 4. Experience in rural, tribal, or community health settings. 5. Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and healthcare operations. 6. A commitment to the mission of TCC.
Supervision:
This position supervises multiple staff.
Supervision Physical demands:
Position is mostly sedentary. Must be able to work effectively in a busy, sometimes stressful environment.
