The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medical office operations, a strong understanding of electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and records management. As the Medical Records Director, you will lead efforts to ensure accurate, secure, and compliant documentation practices that support quality patient care and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the medical records department, ensuring efficient retrieval, storage, and documentation of patient information. Maintain compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), to safeguard patient privacy and data security. Implement and manage electronic health record (EHR) systems, optimizing workflows for accuracy and accessibility. Supervise staff responsible for maintaining medical records, providing training on recordkeeping standards, confidentiality protocols, and system usage. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all medical records through regular audits and quality control procedures. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate seamless documentation processes that support patient care delivery. Develop policies and procedures related to medical records management, ensuring adherence to legal and organizational standards. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office operations or healthcare administration with a focus on medical records management. Strong proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and related software applications. In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and legal requirements governing medical records. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate documentation. Demonstrated leadership abilities in supervising teams within a healthcare setting. Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA is essential. A degree in health information management, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
