Job Description

Description The Yale School of Medicine seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry, to serve as Medical Director of the Inpatient Service Geriatric Unit at Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. This is a key leadership role overseeing the care of psychiatric patients 55 years or older on a 20-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. This position carries a faculty appointment within the Department of Psychiatry at the assistant professor level. Responsibilities include providing clinical care and leading multidisciplinary teams. The candidate will have a strong partnership with nursing and social work leadership, hospital administration, community partners, state agencies, and other medical specialties. They will also play a central role in advancing clinical innovation, education, and academic scholarship. The Medical Director will work closely with hospital and departmental leadership and will be expected to uphold clinical standards, drive quality improvement initiatives, and foster trainee development, with creativity and a clear strategic vision. The ideal candidate will be board-certified or board-eligible in Geriatric Psychiatry. Qualifications Medical Degree with an active clinical practice. Member of the Medical Staff in good standing.
