Typically board-certified in emergency medicine or pediatric emergency medicine. Generally responsible for either the creation of protocols for treatment by prehospital providers or providing leadership to the group of physicians who assist with the provision of medical oversight depending on which model of service delivery and which model of medical control are operating.

Job Description

We're looking for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine physician to join a locum tenens role in Inverness, Florida. You'll work in a recently renovated emergency department that's modern, efficient, and focused on high-acuity adult care. The ED sees about 45,000 visits a year and is staffed to provide strong coverage: physicians cover roughly 36 hours per day with APPs providing an additional 40 hours daily. The patient mix is mainly adult and geriatric, with low pediatric volume (~6%). This is a non-trauma, non-OB/GYN environment using Cerner as the EMR. The department has 28 private rooms, including bariatric-capable rooms. What you'll find here: A freshly renovated ED with up-to-date amenities Solid hospitalist support for admissions and inpatient care A designated Stroke Center with tele-neurology being implemented Ready access to advanced imaging and specialty consults to support high-acuity cases

Requirements:

Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM) Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain one DEA license Experience in high-volume EDs is preferred Comfort managing a wide range of emergency presentations in a non-trauma setting Location highlights: Inverness sits in the heart of Citrus County and offers a friendly, small-town vibe with lakes, bike trails, and easy access to outdoor activities. It's about an hour-plus from both Tampa and Orlando and provides convenient access to Florida's Gulf Coast attractions.
