An Emergency Medical Director within emergency medical services is a physician who provides guidance, leadership, oversight and continuous quality improvement (CQI) for the practice of local EMTs and paramedics within a predefined area. Typically board-certified in emergency medicine or pediatric emergency medicine. Generally responsible for either the creation of protocols for treatment by prehospital providers or providing leadership to the group of physicians who assist with the provision of medical oversight depending on which model of service delivery and which model of medical control are operating.

Council Bluffs, Iowa Assignment type: Locum tenens — emergency medicine coverage in a busy ED; collaborative team environment.
Schedule Shifts per month:
4-12 Shift length: 8 hours Available shift times: 06:30-14:30 13:30-22:30 21:30-06:30 ED volume & acuity Annual volume: ~22,000 visits Disposition mix:

EMR:
Epic Speech recognition: Dragon No scribes Core responsibilities Provide emergency care across a range of acuity levels Triage, evaluate, diagnose, and treat ED patients Perform emergency procedures and interventions as indicated Respond to codes and emergent events Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, and other care team members Complete accurate, timely documentation in Epic using Dragon Requirements Active Iowa medical license Active DEA registration Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications Prior emergency medicine experience required
