An Emergency Medical Director within emergency medical services is a physician who provides guidance, leadership, oversight and continuous quality improvement (CQI) for the practice of local EMTs and paramedics within a predefined area. Typically board-certified in emergency medicine or pediatric emergency medicine. Generally responsible for either the creation of protocols for treatment by prehospital providers or providing leadership to the group of physicians who assist with the provision of medical oversight depending on which model of service delivery and which model of medical control are operating.
Illini Hospital•Float APP The Float Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide clinical coverage across multiple care settings, including Inpatient Hospitalist Services, Express Care, and the Emergency Department. This role requires flexibility to work in various departments based on organizational staffing needs while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Schedule This position will rotate between the following departments and schedules based on operational needs:
Inpatient Hospitalist:
7:00 a.m.•5:00 p.m.
Express Care:
8:00 a.m.•6:00 p.m.
Emergency Department:
11:00 a.m.•7:00 p.m. Workdays will vary according to departmental staffing requirements and may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive patient care within assigned clinical areas. Float between Inpatient Hospitalist Services, Express Care, and the Emergency Department as needed. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Adhere to organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing patient care and staffing needs. Qualifications Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), as applicable. Appropriate certifications and credentials required for each clinical practice area. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and decision-making skills. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on departmental needs.
