Job Description

The Primary Care Medical Director provides clinical and operational leadership for primary care services across the medical group. The Medical Director partners with administrative leaders, physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to advance high-quality, patient-centered care while improving access, provider performance, patient experience, clinical outcomes, and financial sustainability. The Medical Director serves as a physician leader and advocate for primary care, supporting standardization of clinical practice, provider engagement, population health initiatives, and continuous improvement across primary care practices. Provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for primary care practices. Promote evidence-based, standardized clinical practices and protocols. Support appropriate utilization of diagnostic testing, referrals, medications, and other healthcare resources. Monitor clinical quality, safety, and patient outcomes. Identify opportunities to reduce unwarranted clinical variation. Serve as a clinical resource for physicians, APPs, and practice leadership. Participate in peer review, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities. Partner with practice leaders to establish clear expectations for physician and APP performance. Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and retention of primary care providers. Participate in physician performance reviews and professional development. Address clinical performance concerns in collaboration with administrative and medical leadership. Promote physician engagement, accountability, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement. Develop and support physician leadership within primary care.
