Job Description

Medical Director - Part-Time Contracted Position Proof Alliance is the largest U.S. organization dedicated to preventing prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) and improving outcomes for people impacted by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Through partnerships across education, research, legal and judicial systems, health care, policy, and social services, we advance awareness, increase support for services, and promote an FASD-informed future. Proof Alliance is seeking a Medical Director to support its pediatric clinic team in the provision of FASD diagnostic assessments. Our diagnostic clinic serves patients statewide and trains health practitioners nationwide in FASD assessment. The Medical Director will serve as Proof Alliance's advisory supervising medical professional, providing expertise and clinical guidance for the clinic. The role requires experience in complex care management and neurodevelopmental disorders and supports the Advanced Practice Nurse within the agreed scope of services. Proof Alliance retains responsibility for organizational operations, staffing, and administrative decisions.
Work Status:
Part-time contract position averages approximately 20-30 hours per year. Hours may vary based on clinic needs, meeting schedules, consultation requests, and organizational priorities.
Work Location :
Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, with work performed primarily remotely and occasional in-office meetings as needed.
Initial Contract Term:
October 2026-June 30, 2027.
Planned Renewal Term:
July 1, 2027-June 30, 2028. The initial contract will end June 30, 2027, to align with the organization's funding cycle. Proof Alliance anticipates continued funding and intends to renew the contract for July 1, 2027-June 30, 2028, contingent on grant funding and satisfactory performance.
Oversight :
The Medical Director will serve as an independent contractor. The role is advisory and consultative; the Medical Director provides clinical guidance within the agreed scope but does not supervise Proof Alliance employees, manage clinic operations, or independently bind the organization to clinical, legal, financial, or operational decisions.
Contract Compensation:
Compensation will be $100-$150 per hour. Scope of Services Provide clinical oversight and consultation to support quality, consistency, and standard clinical practice within the Proof Alliance Diagnostic Clinic. Serve as an advisory clinical resource to the clinic's medical provider. Offer timely consultation on clinic practice requirements (i.e. guardianship, intake, protocols, documentation standards, care coordination, and related clinical workflows). Review and provide input on the medical portion of assessments, including selected notes and patient-chart documentation, when requested by clinic leadership. Participate in scheduled clinic meetings monthly or as needed and provide consultation between meetings when availability and contract hours allow. Collaborate with Proof Alliance staff to develop best practices for diagnosing FASD and identify practical approaches to reduce barriers to care and increase clinic capacity. Complete required contract or employee trainings, including sexual harassment prevention and anti-discrimination training. Compliance and Risk Management The Medical Director will comply with all applicable clinic policies related to HIPAA, privacy and security, fraud, waste and abuse, and other relevant policies. The Medical Director will complete annual compliance and policy review requirements. The Medical Director will provide advisory input on compliance, privacy, security, and clinical risk issues within the agreed scope Qualifications and Requirements Board-certified pediatrician or advanced practice nurse practitioner. Maintains Minnesota licensure. Provides a current copy of license to Clinic Manager and Human Resources Manager and annually thereafter. Demonstrates knowledge of complex cases and/or neurodevelopmental disorders, including FASD. Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary pediatric teams. Maintains capacity to serve in an advisory role beyond clinic meetings as needs arise.
Eligibility and Compliance:
The selected contractor must have legal authorization to work in the United States and must complete required eligibility verification documentation. A background check for violent offenses and offenses against vulnerable populations is required.
Additional Information:
This is an independent contractor position and is not eligible for the Proof Alliance employee benefits package. The contractor is responsible for payment of all applicable federal, state, and local taxes associated with compensation received under this Agreement.
