Inspire Your Team. Grow with Us. First Capitol Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and collaborative Medical Director Veterinarian to lead our small animal practice in St. Charles, Missouri. This is an outstanding opportunity for a veterinarian who is passionate about high-quality medicine, surgery, mentorship, and practice growth while continuing to maintain an active clinical caseload. As Medical Director, you'll partner with hospital leadership to foster a collaborative culture, mentor fellow veterinarians, uphold medical excellence, and help shape the future of a well-established practice. About Our Practice First Capitol Animal Hospital is a full-service companion animal hospital committed to delivering exceptional medical, surgical, and dental care. Our experienced and supportive team values collaboration, client education, and continuous professional development while utilizing modern technology to provide the highest standard of care. Interest in surgery is highly encouraged, and our hospital provides the resources and support for doctors to continue advancing their surgical skills. What You'll Do Lead and mentor a team of veterinarians and support staff Practice high-quality small animal medicine and surgery Promote medical excellence and maintain gold standard of care Partner with hospital leadership to support hospital growth and strategic initiatives Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing culture Support the professional development of associate veterinarians Build lasting relationships with clients through exceptional communication and patient care Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an accredited veterinary school Active (or eligible) Missouri veterinary license Previous leadership or mentorship experience preferred Strong surgical and medical skills with an interest in continuing to grow surgical services Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Collaborative leadership style with a growth mindset Passion for progressive, evidence-based medicine and team development Core Competencies Veterinary Leadership Medical Director Small Animal Medicine Preventive Care & Wellness Soft Tissue Surgery Veterinary Dentistry Internal Medicine Diagnostic Interpretation & Case Management Medical Quality & Standards of Care Client Communication & Education Team Development & Mentorship Practice Growth Clinical Decision-Making Collaboration What We Offer Up to $160,000 Base Salary (varies based on qualifications/experience) Quarterly production bonus with no negative accrual. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
