You'll bring strong clinical and surgical skills — advanced soft tissue surgery experience is preferred to support emergency and urgent care cases like splenectomies, GI foreign body obstructions, pyometras, cystotomies, exploratory surgeries, laceration repairs, and other procedures common in small animal practice. Experience mentoring veterinarians, fostering a positive hospital culture, and driving medical excellence is highly valued. About the Hospital Animal Hospital of Diamondhead is a well-equipped small animal practice with everything you need to practice high-quality medicine: Three exam rooms Digital radiography Ultrasound In-house IDEXX laboratory equipment Our experienced support staff and positive team culture let doctors focus on excellent patient care in a genuinely supportive, collaborative environment. Responsibilities What You'll Own as Medical Director Advancing Medical Care Oversee surgical and medical cases across all doctors — ensuring strong outcomes, accurate estimates, and clear client communication and education Serve as a resource for clients with questions or concerns about medical and surgical procedures Set the direction on medical standards, quality of care, and inventory Establish and maintain medical protocols Oversee the smooth transfer of cases from doctor to doctor Control costs and minimize waste across medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories Leading the Staff and Practice Help recruit and interview doctors — and general staff when appropriate Monitor doctor performance and production Develop and track hospital-specific client compliance protocols Participate in technician appraisals and medical counseling sessions Ensure all medical staff get the training they need, including mentoring new graduates Partner with the Hospital Manager on staff training and on tracking CE and DVM licensure Financial Leadership Drive revenue and hospital contribution growth while managing hospital expenses Help build the annual strategy, operating budget, and capital budget Monitor key financial reports Growing the Practice Drive patient visits and champion community involvement Qualifications What You Bring Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree Licensure (or eligibility) in Mississippi Strong clinical and surgical skills — advanced soft tissue surgery experience preferred Leadership or mentorship experience a strong plus Genuine compassion for both pets and the people who love them Skilled, precise hands and excellent dexterity handling animals The composure to make fast, sound decisions when an animal's wellbeing is on the line A real understanding of animals and their behavior Strong communication and interpersonal skills What You'll Get Competitive six-figure base salary plus production No negative accrual 1:1 personalized career coaching Lucrative bonus packages Flexible scheduling "True" paid time off (base and production) Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match 100% paid life and disability insurance Generous pet care perks Access to a financial planning platform Employee Assistance Program Paid time and allowance for professional development Access to our doctor vacation program And more — check out our Ultimate CarePackage Why You'll Love the Gulf Coast Located along Mississippi's stunning Gulf Coast, Pass Christian offers the perfect mix of professional fulfillment and coastal lifestyle. Qualifications:
