Approximately 3 Months We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced physician leader to serve as Director of an adult hospital medicine program at a high-performing, community-based hospital conveniently located just outside Manhattan. This is a premier leadership opportunity within a well-established inpatient program. The incoming Director will have the ability to influence strategic direction, optimize operations, and enhance the delivery of high-quality patient care within a growing organization. We are specifically seeking candidates with 5+ years of experience as a Hospitalist Medical Director or in a comparable hospital leadership role. Role Overview The Director will provide both strategic leadership and day-to-day operational oversight of the hospitalist service line, managing a team of physicians and advanced practice providers. This leader will play a central role in advancing program performance, strengthening clinical operations, and aligning departmental initiatives with broader organizational goals. Core Responsibilities Oversee recruitment, scheduling, and performance management of hospitalists and APPs Define and execute program goals focused on quality, efficiency, and growth Manage departmental operations, including financial oversight and regulatory compliance Collaborate with executive leadership on quality improvement, patient safety, and operational initiatives Track and improve key performance indicators across the program Promote a collaborative, accountable, high-performing team culture Candidate Profile MD or DO Board Certified in Internal Medicine Completion of Internal Medicine residency Minimum 5 years of administrative leadership experience in hospital medicine Strong background in operations, quality improvement, and team development Eligible for or currently holding a New York State medical license (NY license strongly preferred) US Citizen or Green Card holder Organization & Environment This respected community hospital is recognized for strong clinical outcomes, a commitment to patient safety, and ongoing investment in growth and modernization.
