Our core values reflect our focus on the experience of each person we support: Inclusion Partnership Respect Job Duties Job Overview The Medical Director serves as the primary clinical leader at Gallipolis Developmental Center. This position provides comprehensive medical care to individuals with complex health needs and oversees the delivery, quality, and regulatory compliance of all medical services within the developmental center. The Medical Director ensures person-centered, integrated healthcare; establishes clinical policies and protocols; monitors quality indicators and clinical outcomes; and serves as a key medical consultant to executive leadership. The role includes supervising clinical practice, coordinating interdisciplinary care, supporting regulatory surveys and audits, interpreting CMS and ICF/IID standards, utilizing electronic health record systems to guide clinical decision-making, and contributing to strategic healthcare initiatives. The Medical Director functions as a vital liaison among internal teams, external providers, county boards, and DODD Central Office, ensuring safe, high-quality medical care for individuals served. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced physician. This leadership role oversees all medical services, ensures regulatory compliance, and provides high-level clinical oversight for individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric needs. The ideal candidate is a strong clinician with excellent leadership, collaboration, and quality improvement skills. The selected candidate may also be asked to provide coverage at the other developmental centers throughout Ohio on an urgent or as-needed basis. What Will You Do? Direct Clinical Care- Provide comprehensive primary care, including examinations, diagnoses, treatments, medication management, and clinical follow-up.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and monitor responses to treatment.
- Ensure continuity of care and adherence to CMS, ICF/IID, and DODD standards. Medical Oversight & Quality Management
- Plan, direct, and evaluate medical services within the developmental center.
- Establish medical policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and quality indicators using EHR data (e.g., PointClickCare).
- Identify risks, implement corrective actions, and support facility audits, surveys, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Participate in facility committees such as Admission/Discharge, MUI Review, Infection Control, Pharmacy Review, Emergency Preparedness, and Human Rights. Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Provider Insight
- Coordinate medical care across disciplines to ensure person-centered support.
- Collaborate with psychology, nursing, QIDPs, direct care staff, families/guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Document clinical encounters, orders, and outcomes in the EHR in a timely and compliant manner.
- Provide clinical guidance and oversight to Certified Nurse Practitioners and advanced practice providers.
- Consult with external specialists, county boards, and DODD Central Office regarding complex medical cases. Strategic Planning & Healthcare Initiatives
- Contribute to strategic planning and development of healthcare initiatives.
- Use EHR reporting tools and performance data to support quality improvement and operational decision-making.
- Support staff training, clinical education, and development of policies that enhance medical services.
