This is a fully remote position. The Medical Director is responsible for providing overall medical leadership for the hospice program and works collaboratively with the Administrator, Director of Patient Care Services, interdisciplinary team, attending physicians, patients, and families to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate hospice care. The Medical Director is responsible for certifying and recertifying patient eligibility for hospice services, participating in the development and oversight of individualized plans of care, providing consultation regarding pain and symptom management, and serving as a clinical resource for the hospice team. The Medical Director participates in interdisciplinary group meetings, supports quality assurance and performance improvement activities, and helps ensure compliance with all federal, state, and hospice regulatory requirements. Must be able to utilize computers and be comfortable with electronic medical records. Must possess excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. The Medical Director serves as a role model to staff and supports the organization's mission, goals, objectives, and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school. Current unrestricted California physician license. Current DEA registration. Board Certification in an appropriate specialty required. Hospice and Palliative Medicine certification preferred. Two years of physician experience, with hospice and palliative care experience preferred. Knowledge of Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation and California hospice regulations. Demonstrate a high level of competency in medical decision-making and patient care. Ability to plan, organize, collaborate, and manage effectively. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families, referral sources, and members of the community. Able to utilize computers and be comfortable with electronic medical and other records.
