Competitive and based on experience A growing medical aesthetics practice in La Crosse, Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced and highly engaged Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversee the medical operations of the practice. Position Overview The Medical Director will provide active clinical oversight and help ensure that all medical aesthetic services are performed safely, ethically, and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and established practice protocols. We are seeking a Medical Director who will be a trusted clinical partner—not simply provide their name or credentials. The ideal candidate will be accessible to the clinical team, comfortable providing guidance and supervision, and invested in maintaining exceptional standards of care throughout the practice. Key Responsibilities Provide medical leadership and oversight for the practice's medical aesthetic services and clinical operations. Develop, approve, and periodically review treatment protocols, policies, standing orders, consent forms, and emergency procedures. Ensure services are provided within the appropriate scope of practice and in compliance with applicable federal and Wisconsin requirements. Provide supervision, consultation, and clinical guidance to nurse injectors and other licensed medical professionals. Review provider qualifications, training, competencies, and clinical privileges before authorizing team members to perform treatments. Support the onboarding, training, and ongoing clinical development of medical providers. Remain reasonably available to address clinical questions, adverse events, complications, and patient-care concerns. Participate in the review and management of adverse outcomes, incidents, or patient complaints involving clinical care. Establish standards for patient assessment, treatment planning, documentation, follow-up care, and medical record quality. Oversee medication, prescription, and controlled-substance practices, when applicable. Review the safety and clinical appropriateness of new treatments, devices, medications, and services before implementation. Conduct periodic chart reviews and clinical quality audits. Collaborate with practice leadership to promote patient safety, excellent outcomes, regulatory compliance, and responsible business growth. Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and periodic clinical or leadership meetings. Maintain all required licenses, credentials, insurance, and continuing education. Preferred Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Wisconsin. Board certification in dermatology, plastic surgery, family medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, or another relevant specialty preferred. Dermatology or cosmetic dermatology experience strongly preferred. Experience in medical aesthetics, including injectable treatments, laser or light-based services, skin rejuvenation, or related procedures. Prior experience serving as a Medical Director or supervising advanced practice providers is preferred. Strong understanding of patient safety, clinical documentation, informed consent, delegation, scope of practice, and medical compliance. Ability to evaluate complications and provide timely clinical guidance when needed. Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
