  • Troy, MI (Greater Metro Detroit) About us BetWell Health is a new behavioral health provider bringing warm, evidence-based care to Michigan — offering Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient (OP) treatment, in person and virtually, across the full range of substance use disorders and mental health conditions, with a distinct specialty in gambling disorder and online addictions.
The role We're seeking a part-time Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to provide psychiatric oversight for our Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs. This is a fractional role ideal for a psychiatrist who wants meaningful clinical leadership with a flexible schedule. You'll provide medical oversight, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management, and serve as the Medical Director of record for our PHP — working alongside our Clinical Director and multidisciplinary team. What you'll own Serve as Medical Director of record for the PHP, providing required psychiatric oversight Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients Provide medical oversight of treatment planning and level-of-care decisions Collaborate with the Clinical Director and clinical team on integrated, evidence-based care Support medical necessity documentation and psychiatric input for payer authorization Provide clinical guidance and consultation to the treatment team Help establish psychiatric protocols and standards as the program grows Supervise/collaborate with psychiatric nurse practitioners as the program scales (per Michigan requirements) You bring MD or DO with board certification in Psychiatry (required) Active, unrestricted Michigan medical license and DEA registration Experience in behavioral health, addiction psychiatry, and/or PHP/IOP settings preferred Comfort with telehealth-delivered psychiatric care Already credentialed with Michigan commercial payers (BCBSM, etc.) strongly preferred Interest in substance use, co-occurring disorders, and behavioral addictions (gambling) a plus Collaborative, mission-driven approach to team-based care The arrangement Part-time / fractional — approximately 8 hours per week to start, scaling with program census Flexible schedule — set your hours around your existing commitments; telehealth-friendly Competitive fractional compensation (hourly or monthly stipend, commensurate with experience and hours) Room to grow with us This role is designed to grow as we do. We're launching, and as our census builds and the organization scales, this fractional position offers a genuine pathway to expanded hours and, for the right person, a full-time Medical Director opportunity. If you're looking to start with the flexibility of a part-time role and grow into a larger leadership role as the program expands — including shaping our psychiatric team and building out med-management as we add a PMHNP and additional clinical staff — we'd love to build that future together.
Pay:
$175.00 - $350.00 per hour
