Position Overview:
We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to provide onsite psychiatric services at Memphis, TN. The psychiatrist will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient mental health care to Veterans, including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and follow-up care. The provider will work closely with the VA's multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide inpatient and outpatient psychiatric evaluations and treatment. Diagnose mental health conditions and develop individualized treatment plans. Perform patient admissions, follow-up visits, discharge planning, and medication management. Provide care for patients with severe mental illness and post-discharge follow-ups. Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation. Participate in peer reviews, case reviews, and quality improvement activities. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Attend required staff meetings and comply with VA policies and procedures. Participate in on-call coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State or Territory. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN). Current BLS and ACLS certifications (or equivalent). Strong clinical, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

  • 4:30 PM (Central Time) Weekend and after-hours on-call coverage required.
On-call response:
Phone response within 15 minutes On-site response within 60 minutes
