This role provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership for specialty services, ensuring strong provider performance, exceptional patient experiences, operational consistency, and continued business growth. The Dental Specialty Director will work closely with Specialty Managers, Regional Managers, and Office Managers to develop and execute specialty strategies, improve processes, support provider performance, and identify opportunities to expand specialty services throughout the organization. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for an experienced dental professional who is comfortable managing across multiple locations, balancing competing priorities, and driving results in a fast-paced, field-based environment. Key Responsibilities Specialty Business Growth Develop and execute strategies to grow specialty lines of business across multiple locations. Identify opportunities to increase specialty production, patient volume, provider utilization, and overall profitability. Monitor specialty performance metrics and develop action plans to address opportunities and challenges. Partner with regional and office leadership to maximize specialty opportunities within each practice. Support new specialty launches, expansions, and initiatives. Provider Management & Development Provide leadership and support for specialty providers across the organization. Partner with Specialty Managers and Regional Managers to ensure providers have the resources, support, and infrastructure needed to succeed. Monitor provider performance, productivity, scheduling, and patient experience. Assist with provider recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention strategies. Build strong relationships with specialty providers and serve as a key leadership resource. Operations & Process Improvement Establish and maintain consistent processes and standards for specialty services across locations. Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient access, provider utilization, and financial performance. Partner with field leadership to implement operational improvements and ensure accountability. Troubleshoot complex operational issues and provide solutions across multiple offices. Ensure specialty programs are aligned with organizational goals, policies, and standards. Marketing & Patient Growth Partner with marketing and field leadership to develop strategies that increase awareness and utilization of specialty services. Support internal and external marketing initiatives designed to drive specialty referrals and patient volume. Identify opportunities to improve specialty case acceptance and patient education. Collaborate with offices to ensure specialty services are effectively communicated to patients and referral sources. Training & Leadership Development Develop and implement training programs for Specialty Managers, Office Managers, and appropriate clinical and administrative team members. Provide ongoing coaching and development to specialty leadership. Ensure teams understand specialty processes, expectations, performance goals, and best practices. Share best practices across offices and create consistency in the delivery of specialty services. Field Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a hands-on field leader with regular travel between dental offices. Oversee and support Specialty Managers while partnering closely with Regional Managers and Office Managers. Build strong relationships with field teams and provide visible, accessible leadership. Conduct regular office visits, performance reviews, and operational assessments. Communicate organizational priorities and ensure effective execution at the practice level. Work cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Recruiting, Finance, and other departments as needed. Qualifications Significant leadership experience within a multi-office dental role. Proven experience in a higher-level leadership role overseeing multiple locations, teams, or lines of business. Experience managing or supporting specialty dental services strongly preferred. Demonstrated success driving business growth, operational performance, and provider engagement. Strong understanding of dental practice operations and specialty workflows. Experience developing and implementing processes, training programs, and performance initiatives. Strong communication, relationship-building, coaching, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze performance data and translate findings into actionable business strategies. Ability and willingness to travel regularly between offices. Schedule & Availability This is a field-based leadership position supporting a business that operates 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays . The Dental Specialty Director must be willing to work a flexible schedule and provide leadership support based on the operational needs of the business. Occasional weekend and holiday availability is required.
