Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Optician Manager to lead our optical services team. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations within the optical department, ensuring exceptional patient care, and maintaining compliance with health regulations and confidentiality policies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive optical experience, strong leadership abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical and retail aspects of optometry. As an Optician Manager, you will drive customer satisfaction, manage staff performance, and uphold the highest standards in eyewear dispensing and clinical practices. Responsibilities Supervise the optical department's daily operations, including patient consultations, eyewear fittings, and laboratory work. Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and professional team. Oversee spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear adjustments, and fittings to ensure optimal customer satisfaction. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical confidentiality policies, and state healthcare regulations. Monitor inventory levels of eyewear frames, lenses, and laboratory supplies; oversee optical laboratory processes. Conduct routine laboratory tasks including lens edging, frame adjustments, and quality control checks. Implement retail sales strategies to enhance customer engagement while adhering to health regulation policies. Maintain detailed medical records and ensure data accuracy in electronic systems. Facilitate staff training on new products, medical terminology, and technical skills related to optics . Qualifications Proven experience in retail optometry or optical management with knowledge of optometry practices. Strong understanding of health regulation policies including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and clinical confidentiality policies. Laboratory experience with spectacle lens fabrication, eyewear fittings, and frame adjustments. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Acuity or comparable platforms Excellent customer service skills combined with retail sales expertise to promote products effectively. Ability to operate POS systems efficiently while managing cash register operations. Leadership qualities with experience in retail management or clinic supervision. Basic math skills for inventory management and financial transactions; understanding of retail math principles.
