This position serves as a dual role by providing direct patient care while supervising the department's Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. The Senior Provider ensures clinical consistency, supports evidence-based practice, mentors providers, oversees quality improvement efforts, assists with policy development, and serves as a clinical resource for complex patient care. Maintaining an active clinical role allows the Senior Provider to remain engaged in day-to-day operations while providing informed leadership and guidance to the provider team. Challenges of Working in This Public Health Clinic Nurse Position Requires balancing a busy patient care schedule with supervisory and administrative responsibilities. Must be comfortable making complex clinical and operational decisions in a fast-paced environment. Responsible for addressing staffing challenges, provider performance, and changing public health priorities. Frequent adaptation to evolving state and federal regulations, clinical guidelines, and program requirements. Requires strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of patient care and leadership. Need to adapt quickly to emergencies or outbreaks affecting clinic operations. Emotional stress when working with vulnerable populations facing difficult circumstances. Cross-training and floating between clinic areas may require continual adjustment. Administrative tasks and documentation requirements can be time-consuming.
