Boever Family Eyecare, Lincoln, Nebraska About the Position Boever Family Eyecare is seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized person to become a key member of our small, patient-focused practice. Our optician/office manager of 20 years is planning to retire this spring. We are hiring in advance so the right person can receive extensive one-on-one training and gradually learn the position before taking over additional responsibilities. Previous optical or medical-office experience is preferred, but it is not required. We are willing to train someone who is personable, dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with patients, and interested in building a long-term career with our practice. Pay will be based on previous experience and immediately usable skills. Employees will have opportunities for pay increases as they learn additional optical and office-management responsibilities. Primary Responsibilities Welcome patients and provide friendly, professional service Help patients select frames that fit their needs, preferences, and budget Explain lens options and assist patients with eyewear decisions Take accurate optical measurements Order, inspect, adjust, dispense, and perform minor repairs on eyewear Monitor glasses orders and communicate with patients and laboratories Answer phones and schedule appointments Collect payments and assist with insurance-related tasks Maintain accurate patient and order information Help maintain frame inventory, office supplies, and vendor relationships Assist with the daily organization and workflow of the practice Gradually learn additional administrative and office-management duties What We're Looking For Warm, patient, and professional communication skills Dependability and consistent attendance Strong attention to detail Good organizational and time-management skills Comfort using computers and learning new software Ability to explain options clearly without using high-pressure sales tactics Willingness to learn both optical and administrative responsibilities Ability to protect confidential patient information A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed in a small-office environment Helpful Experience Experience in any of the following areas is helpful but not required: Optical sales or dispensing Optometry, ophthalmology, dental, or other medical-office work Retail sales or customer service Insurance verification or claims Scheduling, billing, or general office administration Supervisory or office-management responsibilities
