Technician Supervisor 4 Hardscrabble Heights, Brewster, NY 10509 $45 - $48 an hour $45 - $48 an hour Neurology Veterinary Technician Supervisor Job Overview We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and team-oriented Neurology Veterinary Technician Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our neurology department. This role combines advanced technical skills with leadership responsibilities to ensure exceptional patient care, efficient workflow coordination, and ongoing staff development within a fast-paced specialty hospital environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, clinically skilled, compassionate, and passionate about both patient care and team leadership. Key Responsibilities Department Management & Clinical Coordination Oversee daily workflow within the neurology department, ensuring efficient patient intake, diagnostics, treatments, procedures, and follow-up care. Coordinate technician workflow to support neurologists, MRI services, surgery, and hospitalized neurology patients. Monitor patient flow and staffing needs throughout the day to maintain efficient department operations. Collaborate with the Medical Operations Manager to ensure necessary equipment, medications, and supplies are consistently available. Assist in maintaining smooth communication between departments to support continuity of patient care. Scheduling & Staffing Create and manage technician schedules for the neurology department. Ensure adequate staffing coverage based on caseload and hospital needs. Coordinate coverage for call-outs, schedule changes, and open shifts using appropriately trained staff. Submit schedules and on-call availability within required timeframes. Assist with holiday scheduling and department coverage planning. Staff Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and support neurology technicians and assistants in a positive and collaborative environment. Serve as the primary point of contact for technician questions, concerns, and workflow support. Oversee onboarding and ongoing training for neurology staff to ensure continued clinical growth and adherence to hospital protocols. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. Address employee performance concerns professionally and in accordance with hospital disciplinary policies. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and compassionate patient care. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure all patient care activities meet hospital standards, safety protocols, and best practices in veterinary neurology. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and treatment documentation. Coordinate maintenance and proper handling of neurology-specific equipment, including MRI and surgical support equipment. Ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance within the department. Client Service & Communication Work closely with veterinarians and client service representatives to provide timely updates and compassionate client communication. Support clients through complex neurological cases with professionalism and empathy. Advocate for patient comfort, safety, and overall well-being throughout hospitalization and treatment. Operational Efficiency Evaluate workflows and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and patient care. Monitor staffing hours and overtime while maintaining high-quality patient support. Collaborate with hospital leadership regarding inventory management and responsible resource usage. Attend required meetings and participate in departmental planning and initiatives. Position Requirements Must be an LVT with neurology, specialty, or critical care experience preferred. Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong technical and organizational skills required. Must be comfortable working on the hospital floor in a hands-on technician role. Excellent communication, leadership, and multitasking abilities. Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced specialty environment. Reliable transportation required. Must regularly check and respond to work communications. Scheduling Expectations One weekend shift per week required. Participation in the hospital on-call rotation.
