Job Description

SAbout Us SAHO Owasso Animal Hospital is a fast-paced, progressive veterinary hospital offering both General Practice and 24/7 Emergency care. Our team is built around high standards of patient care, strong teamwork, and a commitment to continual growth and improvement. We are seeking a Nursing Manager to lead and develop our nursing team while driving efficiency, accountability, and excellence in patient care. Position Overview The Nursing Manager is responsible for the overall performance, structure, and direction of the nursing department. This role focuses on leadership, team development, and operational oversight , while maintaining a consistent presence on the hospital floor. This is not a fully administrative role—the Nursing Manager will work 1-2 clinical shifts per week to stay connected to daily operations and support the team. Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Leadership & Oversight Oversee all nursing department functions including ER, ICU, surgery, and appointments Identify inefficiencies, workflow gaps, and operational challenges Develop and implement solutions to improve team performance and patient care Team Management & Accountability Conduct 90-day and annual performance reviews Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development Manage all disciplinary actions and performance concerns Collaborate with department leads and hospital leadership Process Improvement Evaluate effectiveness of SOPs and workflows Lead implementation of process improvements Ensure consistency and accountability across all shifts Staffing & Operational Oversight Maintain oversight of: Scheduling and staffing effectiveness Timecard accuracy and attendance trends Work closely with team leads to ensure proper coverage and efficiency Hiring & Onboarding Oversight Oversee hiring process from screening through onboarding Partner with leadership team to identify staffing needs Ensure successful integration and training of new team members Clinical Floor Presence Work 1-2 shifts per week in a clinical capacity Observe workflows, provide coaching, and support the team Identify real-time opportunities for improvement What We're Looking For Strong leadership and team management experience Veterinary technician/nursing background required Ability to balance big-picture thinking with day-to-day operations Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-demand environment Experience in ER or high-volume practice is a plus What Makes This Role Different Dedicated leadership structure with two Lead Nurses supporting operations and training Clear separation between execution (leads) and oversight (manager) Opportunity to build, shape, and elevate a growing nursing team Strong focus on process improvement and efficiency , not just maintaining status quo Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Many additional benefit options 401K with matching Paid holidays Paid time off Continuing education opportunities Employee pet care discounts

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
