Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Practice Bookkeeper/Office Manager to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines financial management with office operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the medical practice. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, bookkeeping, and office administration, along with a passion for supporting healthcare professionals and patients alike. Your expertise will help maintain accurate financial records, streamline billing processes, and uphold compliance with accounting standards, all while fostering a welcoming and organized office environment. The work schedule will be split between two practice locations in the Broward county area and there will be one day per week where there is an option to work hybrid from home. Must have reliable transportation to work between two seperate office locations. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of bookkeeping using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis. Oversee payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and benefits in accordance with applicable laws and standards. Handle accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections while maintaining detailed records of transactions. Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheets regularly to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to support management decision-making. Maintain meticulous records of financial transactions through spreadsheets and accounting systems; perform account reconciliation and bank reconciliation tasks routinely. Support office management duties such as scheduling appointments, managing supplies, coordinating communication among staff, and ensuring a professional office environment. Qualifications Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting within a medical or healthcare setting is highly preferred. Strong proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks (especially QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar systems; familiarity with non-profit or corporate accounting is a plus. Solid understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation. Experience with payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable management. Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting practices relevant to healthcare practices. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating with team members effectively.
