Job Description

Responsibilities The Health Information Specialist is responsible for assisting in supporting the daily operations of the HIM Department that support the overall goals and missions of Windmoor Healthcare. Must be able to complete the following requirements of the position as outlined, chart assemble and analyzation, process medical records as requested in a timely manner, purging and indexing of records, record retrieval and filing. Must have knowledge of terminal digit filing system. Position will monitor completion of dictation and transcription and ensure timely processing. Assures confidentiality of patient records in matters pertaining to disclosure of patient treatment and medical diagnosis, to include filing, retrieving medical records, corresponding with physician, clinical staff and other Windmoor personnel. Understands the flow of medical records and has full knowledge of policies and procedures involving the confidentiality and release of patient information. The Health Information Specialist will assign appropriate
ICD-10CM
codes to both inpatient and outpatient encounters. All work is performed in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions as established by the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10-CM, CMS, AHIMA and Universal Health Services organizational/institutional coding guidelines. Other duties as assigned by the HIM Director. Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in Healthcare field preferred.
  • 3 -5 Yeas medical record experience.
  • Proficiency in the utilization of the personal computer and Microsoft desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated.
RHIT and CCA Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in Healthcare field preferred. 3 -5 Yeas medical record experience. Proficiency in the utilization of the personal computer and Microsoft desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent written and communication skills. Must be self-directed and self-motivated. RHIT and CCA Preferred
